Warsaw Preview
Details: September 14, 2009 at 4:30 PM. To be played at Warsaw High School.
Last Season Review: We did not play Warsaw last year, we were supposed to play in the Warsaw Invitational but it got rained out. Two years ago we did play in the tournament, but only met the Tigers at one spot, as Luke Hostetter fell to dominant Tiger #1, Deon Shafer.
Warsaw Details: Warsaw is having a season that is very similar to our own. The Tigers stand at 7-3 on the season, but the only teams that they have lost to are #22 Northridge, #14 Fort Wayne Canterbury, and traditional power Culver Military. Warsaw will come in off of the Warsaw Invitational, but I have not seen results from that yet. During the last week, Warsaw saw defeat twice, falling to Northridge and Fort Wayne Canterbury. As for common opponents:
Warsaw 5, Goshen 0 ----- Bethany Christian 5, Goshen 0
Warsaw 0, Northridge 5 ----- Bethany Christian 1, Northridge 4
Bethany Christian Details: On Friday, we defeated NorthWood 5-0 to raise our season record to 10-2. Now we enter an intense portion of our schedule, meeting Warsaw, Westview and Fairfield all in succession. However, we have until next Friday before the Westview match. We've played a string of weaker opponents, so this will be a competitive step up.
Projected Matchups:
#1S - Ben Mast (BC) vs. Will Coen (W)
#2S - Seth Krabill (BC) vs. Bryce Scott (W)
#3S - Mikey Kelly (BC) vs. Scott Campbell (W)
#1D - Kyle Miller/Austin Loucks (BC) vs. Andrew Cutshall/Shawn Carmichael (W)
#2D - Russell Klassen/Nick Rebec (BC) vs. Richard Feng/Keaton Joyner (W)
Outlook: Warsaw has played a bunch of good teams this year, and they've played a lot of close matches. They have won 7 of them and they are a good team. We are a good team too, and I think we match up very well to challenge a traditional area power. The key to our match tomorrow will be focus and intensity. We will need to remember how to bring it, how to concentrate, and how to finish our matches. It will be a great match of preparation, regardless of the result, for our Sectional. But I'm super excited, ready-to-go, and very confident headed into this match. It's going to be fun.

I thought that Jared also played Warsaw at the tournament 2 years ago? Maybe I'm wrong, but I thought it was going on while Deon played Omar.
ReplyDeleteYou are right, I looked back at the match report, and Jared lost 8-4.
