Wednesday Opponent Overview

All Time Record vs. Westview: 0-3

Classic Matches:

Westview 3, Bethany Christian 2; 2009
A very close match for us, losing at 2 positions 4-6, 4-6. It was a great debut for Blake Shetler in one of those losses, and another unbelievable comeback for #1 doubles, our heroes, Kyle Miller and Austin Loucks.

Westview 3, Bethany Christian 2; 2008
One of the matches that I will always want back (along with East Noble 2008), we lost 3-2 and had two matches that we lost in 10-point tiebreaks. Jared Schwartzentruber had a strange match of losing the first set, sweeping the second at 6-0, and then losing in the third set tiebreak. Meanwhile, Luke Hostetter had an all-time great match with Steffen Good, but it ended in heartbreak as he dropped the 3rd set tiebreak 8-10.

Top Players over the Years: Steffen Good, Steve Blinco, Zac Mishler, Zack Lee, Adam Whitmer, Austin Miller

Last Season Result: Westview 3, Bethany Christian 2

Returning Varsity Players:
#1S - Steve Blinco (beat Ben Mast, 6-1, 6-2)
#2S - Nick Pfenning (lost to Seth Krabill, 1-6, 2-6)
#2D - Austin Schlabach/Devin Bontrager (beat Russell Klassen/Nick Rebec, 6-4, 6-4)

Top Returning JV Players:
Jonathon Hochstetler (beat Han Gil Lee, 6-0)
Brett Yoder (beat Himal King, 6-0)

Outlook:
We've never won a match against Westview's varsity, and though they return 4 out of their 7 varsity players, I'm hoping that this is the year we can pull out a victory. Steve Blinco is more than solid at the top of the Warrior lineup, he is a All-District candidate player. I hope that we have an All-District player at the top of our lineup too, but either way, this is going to be a tough and beautiful matchup. At the other returning positions for the Warriors, we either defeated them (#2S) or were extremely competitive (#2D). Incoming varsity players will decide this match most likely, so I'm hoping that our new varsity players will have worked harder than theirs. Also, I'm hoping they have a couple incoming freshman, because otherwise there won't be much of a JV match.
