Season Preview: Schedule Overview

Part One: Schedule Overview

On the right side of this page, there is a 2010 schedule. Like all schedules, it is subject to change. But the initial list of teams on those lines give us the best start to determining what this season will hold for us.

And as far as measuring where we are as a team, it's the first week of the season and the last week of the regular season that will tell us about where we are.

In the first week of the season, we play 3 out of our top 5 opponents for the season. Northridge, Goshen and Concord all come to us within the first week. Add in there a Sectional opponent in Jimtown, and you can see why this week's two-a-days are so important.

Northridge, Goshen, Jimtown and Concord are not only some of the better opponents we'll play during the season, but these matches will also give us a good indication of what our postseason hopes and dreams should be. These are traditionally some of the strongest teams in the area, and wins in these matches would put us in that category, of a top team in Northern Indiana.

If you want to know more about any of these teams, click on their link under the schedule.

For a while throughout the rest of August and beginning of September, we play matches against traditionally weaker schools (the exception being Westview). Then, come the end of September, we again will get to see where we're at. Once again we play a prime contender for our Sectional in Fairfield, and then go to the most evenly matched tournament of our season at Wabash.

The Fairfield match is always significant. It is a Sectional rival, and beginning to become even more of a rivalry because of the past several years. In the last 3 years in a row, we have played Fairfield in the Sectional. They have either ended our season, or we have ended theirs. It looks to be the same again this year, as they return at least 2 of their top players and we return 4. This should be a match that are team is excited about. It should be a lot of fun.

Because I find playing the top competition fun, the Wabash tourney should be good as well. All the teams in the tourney are well-coached and last year entering this tournament, Bethany had the worst record of the group at 11-4! That's pretty good competition, and should be similar this year. I'm hoping we have the upper hand and are able to pull away with a tourney victory.

And that's a little taste of what to look forward to. I see us holding up trophies (at least winning one tourney!) I see us cheering for each at the fence in decisive matches. I see us preparing and playing like a top team. Yep, this should be fun.

  1. Having noted that BC and Fairfield played each other in the sectional for the last 3 years, would that not imply that one team's season ended each time?

  2. It was emphasizing a point. It's called parallelism, you restate a point to show that it is important. It's used a lot in the Bible.

  3. Well, I could certainly emphasize a few points from the #2D sectional match with them in '08 ... the crowd certainly did.
