The Seniors: Evan Grimes

Evan has made a significant transition this year. After picking up tennis as a freshman, and only playing in 8 matches, Evan has improved year after year. This year, he moved from splitting time between varsity and JV to being a full-time #1 doubles player. He’s handled the difficult matches well, while not always being pleased with the results. He also brings a joyfulness to the team, as in all things, he seems to be able to keep a smile on his face or a joke on his lips. I think about the matches that he played with Nathan Brendle, and the way they were often laughing about things between points. Also, Evan is seen as a natural leader. In school, socially, and in tennis, many people look up to him. These things make him a valuable person for our team.

Matthew 20:25-28
Jesus called them together and said, “You know that the rulers of the Gentiles lord it over them, and their high officials exercise authority over them. Not so with you. Instead, whoever wants to become great among you must be your servant, and whoever wants to be first must be your servant— just as the Son of Man did not come to be served, but to serve, and to give his life as a ransom for many.”
