Bethany Christian vs. Prairie Heights {Preview}

Our second straight match of the week sees us go up against the Prairie Heights Panthers, which is a small school over between LaGrange and Angola. It's usually one of our longer drives of the season, but this year they are coming here, so good for us! It's also a match that we've typically won (4-0 in my time as coach), and I really expect nothing less this year.

Last year was really a rebuilding year for them, as they had graduated 6 of 7 varsity players from 2005. We had only won 3-2 in 2005 but last year handled their newcomers by a team final of 5-0. In actually, none of the matches were that close, the tightest being at #1 singles, where Luke won 6-1, 6-2. So, not that close at all.

This year, Luke will most likely take on the same opponent he faced last year, Phil Hubley. In the only score I've seen this year for Prairie Heights, Hubley lost rather convincingly to Fairfield's number one, David Stutzman. Though surely improved, chances are good that Luke will come away with another convincing victory tonight.

Prairie Heights also returns players at #2 and #3 singles. They have 2 doubles players back from last year as well. The JV match was closer than the varsity match last season, so there definitely could be some JV players competent enough to move up and cause some problems at varsity spots. Still this is a match that I am sure we will be victorious.
