Bethany Christian JV vs. Westview JV {Match Report}

Click here for photos from this match.

Well, this wasn't our best played match of the season. Westview always has a good program, all the way down the line, and that showed again tonight. I think another thing that showed is that our JV isn't quite used to playing quality competition, because the last few opponents have not been quality competition.

We came out of the gates fairly well, getting leads at several positions including #2 doubles and #3 singles. Russell played his game very well to take a lead at #3, but then started feeling sicker and sicker. I finally told him to give it one more hard go and that was to much for him. Unfortunately, he won the game but became "sick" all over the court, and that was the end of his match, tied at 4-4. Get better soon Russ!

At #2 doubles, Will and Jared were able to use their experience to cruise to victory after taking the early lead. Though I didn't think they were quite attacking enough at times, they did enough to secure victory in this match. Certainly, a little bit more aggression will be needed as they move into matches in the coming weeks with Northwood, Fairfield, Bremen and Jimtown.

At #1 and #2 singles and #1 doubles, Ben Mast, Kyle Miller and the doubles tandem of Matt Amstutz and Seth Krabill simply seemed to lack a bit of confidence and aggressivness towards their matches. Certainly this is something that will come with learning and also with experience. Unfortunately, all three of these matches were winnable if we had been playing well. Next match perhaps we will come out with more aggressiveness, confidence, and belief.
