Spring Schedule

This is the new spring schedule. It is intended for those not playing a spring sport. Those who are in a spring sport, it would be great for you to get out and play when you can, but your first focus should obviously be the sport you've chosen to compete in. The rest of you...

THIS SCHEDULE BEGINS MONDAY, MARCH 10, 2008!

-----Open Courts –(4:00-5:30)-----

OPEN COURTS WILL BE ON MONDAYS AND THURSDAYS.

Those who aspire to play varsity at some point in their career should come to every Spring Open Court unless there is a really good excuse(“I’m tired” is not a good excuse).

This will not be wasted time, it will be time to work on the new skills that you are developing so we are prepared for next season. Make sure you talk to me if there are specific things that you want to work on.

We will use most of the time to play matches. It will be a great time for us to practice new skills.

-----Weight Lifting – after school in weight room-----

WEIGHT LIFTING WILL BE TUESDAYS, WEDNESDAYS, AND FRIDAYS.

Those who aspire to play varsity at some point in their career should come to every weight training session unless there is a really good excuse (“I’m tired” is not a good excuse).

-----“Private Lessons” – with Matt at the college-----

PRIVATE LESSONS WILL BE SET ON YOUR SCHEDULE. THESE CAN HAPPEN DURING THE EXTRA HOUR OF OPEN COURTS.

One person per day of the week. On open court days, we will go until 5:30 If it is a non-open court day we will go from 4:15-5:15


-----Helping Out the Middle Schoolers-----

I’m running a bit more formal middle school program this year. I could use your help in teaching and playing with some of the middle school students. Sometimes this may overlap with open courts. Sometimes it may take a day away from a private lesson. Your help is greatly appreciated in helping middle school students learn the basics and more.

These are the dates for that instruction.

Thursday, March 27 à Forehand and Backhand
Thursday, April 3 à Serve
Monday, April 14 à Volleys and Overheads
Tuesday, April 29 à Advanced Skills (different spins, hitting on the rise, etc.)
Friday, May 2 à Practice of learned skills
Monday, May 5 à Practice of learned skills
Monday, May 12 à Practice of learned skills


Finally, let me say that we have a chance to be very good for the foreseeable future, but this work and dedication is important. I would like to expect that if you’re not in a spring sport and you expect to play some varsity, then you will dedicate yourself to the spring schedule. If for some reason you don’t want to, or have a reason not to, etc --- please, please talk to me. I want you to be there but I value the other things you might have going on. But I want to know those things first of all and up front. So let’s keep the communication lines clear. Yes, I am being strong with my hopes, because I think we can live up to something great. Thanks for understanding and the dedication you’ve shown so far.
