Senior Statement: Braden Bohn

Braden has been a varsity player on and off since his freshman season. He wrapped up that season playing #3S and then started the next season playing some #2D and #3S. Last year, he stepped in at #2S and had a wonderful season, helping us pull out a number of intense matches. This year, he’s had the task of stepping up to #1S in a difficult season.

Increasingly through the year, I’ve seen Braden start to believe in himself. Increasingly, he stays in points, pulls back into matches. And that’s something I love about Braden. Little by little he takes strides in the right direction. So often in life, we want to be somewhere right now. Sometimes we just scamper around in every direction, just moving to move. Braden doesn’t always seem like he is moving, but he is, he is slowly heading in the right direction.

You can see that with Braden’s tennis. Every year he has finished the season playing his best tennis, which he is doing again right now. Every year, he has pulled out big wins at the end of the season, which he is moving toward again right now. But I think this is true of Braden’s life in general. He makes strides every day toward maturity, towards hard work, towards believing in himself. And I can’t wait to see where that goes.

I have great tennis memories of Braden, from his freshman year, sweeping the Wabash tournament at #3S. To last year’s long match against Elkhart. To this year’s match against Blackhawk, where he fought from behind in each set. It gives me so much hope to see him taking strides, and I hope that he is seeing that and being filled with belief as well.

Verse: Romans 15:13
May the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace in believing, so that by the power of the Holy Spirit you may abound in hope!
