Senior Statement: Obed Lopez

Obed joined us just this year. I wasn’t actually sure if he was serious when Joseph mentioned that he wanted to play. But it has been great to have him on the team. He is fun, he works hard when he’s given instruction, and he is so sincere.

I’ve enjoyed watching his tennis game grow through the year. He really has some incredible skills, gifted hands at volleying and getting back tough shots. As the year has worn on, he has continued to develop his strokes, and has really gotten good at his forehands and backhands. I love to see his score lines getting closer and closer to a win.

I also honor him for taking a risk and getting out here. Too often, it’s easy to just stay with what we’re already doing instead of trying something new. Especially in a crazy senior year. I think it is awesome that he came out to play.

He has been quite a gift for our team. Someone to rally around at matches and cheer for that first win. Someone to work with in practice, to see how practice improves us. Someone to encourage us and make us laugh. Someone to show us what sincere goodness looks like. Thanks Obed for coming out for the team! You are a good gift for our team.
