Wednesday Numbers : 24

That's right, 24. And this is not about the famous show with the incomparable Jack Bauer, although apparently he's had a tussle with Chuck Norris. I've actually never watched one episode of that show.

However, 24 is number that deserves some attention anyway. 24 is the number of open courts left before next season begins. Monday's Important Thing was "Practice" and so this is how many official opportunities Bethany Christian players have left before next season starts.

I point this out as a point of urgency. In other words, when you calculate other ways you may comfort yourself by saying, "Well, it's still four months until the season actually starts." However, if you look at the number of scheduled "practice" times left, that's less than a month. Excuses need to go out the window and we need to start finding ways to get out and play.

Another thing to look at is that we have to get better to compete for higher goals, and this is an opportunity. Teams around us are not yet having open courts, because their guy's coaches also coach the girls. This is an opportunity to take strides beyond some of our rivals, to gain an advantage. And every one of the open courts you let slide away is one less opportunity to improve.

Dedication. 24 times in four months. 24 more times.
