Wednesday Opponent Overview

All Time Record vs. Jimtown: 2-16

Classic Matches:

Bethany Christian 3, Jimtown 2; 2009
The Bruins made it two victories in a row over the Jimmies, in strange fashion. We began our match at the Concord Invite, got one set done in most matches, and then it rained. One Saturday later, we came back to finish. Unfortunately, one of our players couldn't make the return match due to prior commitments, so we started with one match forfeited!

Bethany Christian 4, Jimtown 1; 2008
In sweltering heat, the Bruins defeated Jimtown for the very first time. It was almost a 5-0 sweep, as Johnny Kauffman and Jeremy Thomas had 3 match points denied in the one position we did end up losing.

Jimtown 3, Bethany Christian 2; 2007
A very close match, we saw ourselves fall at both doubles positions, to the outstanding Landis twins and also to a #2 doubles team led by Duke Johnson. In this match, Mikey Kelly and Matthew Amstutz almost pulled out the match for us, taking the heavily favored Duke Johnson and Aaron Blume to a tiebreak in the first set.

Outlook:
Last year was crazy for us and the Jimmies. We defeated them in the regular season, but we couldn't beat Fairfield. They could, and did, to become Sectional champions. So the one and only time we played the Sectional champions last year, we beat them. Weird, huh? This year they lose many of the pieces of that Sectional championship team, including the three strong singles players. They will have a lot of varsity inexperience, though I know Coach Fledderman does a good job shuffling his lineups around in order for lots of guys to get experience. We had lost 16 straight against Jimtown to begin Bethany's tennis history. But currently we are on a 2 match winning streak. Here's hoping the new streak continues...
