Friday Prayers

This year, our theme verse has been the Lord's prayer from Matthew 6. This prayer is example of Jesus' teaching on how we should pray. We've been looking at the "big words" of the prayer, and so far we've been learning that it's not about us, alone. Instead, we are a family who strives together and trusts in the pure goodness of our Father.

Following Jesus model of prayer, each Friday I am going to offer a prayer for the team (and well, more often than just Friday, but I'll post a prayer every Friday). I'd invite anyone to pray with us.

Prayer
Our Father, we trust Your goodness. We trust our family. We rest in Your undiluted love. Bring us together around Your desires, help us love You and love others. God we want to be available to take action on bringing about whatever is best for our teammates, whatever is best for opponents, whatever is best for our parents. We want to act in love. So give us what we need today to be ready to do that. Heal our worry, our self-interest, our fear. Forgive us where we look to comforts other than you, where we indulge in selfishness and hurt others. Let us be quick to forgive those who have hurt us. And God, in the name of Jesus, may evil be kept far from us. Help us strive together to be more like Jesus. Amen.
